Legacy Award

If the student is a son/daughter or grandson/granddaughter (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of an Elk member (at any location in the country) they could receive $4000.00 ($1000 per year for 4 years). Vocational Grant

If the senior or person wishes to ONLY GO TO A TWO (2) year college (Not 4 years) they may be eligible for a "Vocational Grant". This grant is handled through the State Program. Most seniors don't realize this is available for AA & AS degrees (dental or nurse’s aid etc.) they can receive $1000 per year for 2 years. Most Valuable Student Award

In this program a student could win funds at the District, State, and National levels. If they win at the National level they could receive up to $15,000/year for 4 years. The deadline for this award application is December of each year. More information and applications are available on the Elks National Foundation web site.

 

The Clifford Looby Scholarship

Clifford Looby was born in North Dakota in 1900. He moved to Auburn California in 1923 and joined the Auburn Elks Lodge in 1965. He was Elk of the Year for the 1971-1972 Lodge year. He passed away in Salinas California in 1989. He bequeathed to the Lodge $10,000.00 to be used as a Heritage Scholarship.

The Elks Looby Scholarship program is for a graduating high school senior who is planning to attend a college or university in the Fall of their graduating year. The senior must be a child, step-child or grandchild of an active Elk in Auburn Lodge #1691. The value of the Scholarship is $1,000.00. Applications will be available as of the second Lodge meeting in October. Applications may be picked up at the Lodge or obtained from the Scholarship Chairman. In the past, winners have graduated from high schools in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California. The application must be post marked no later than the last day of February. The winner is notified by mail in March.
